In 2008, Brigitte von Rechenberg was co-founder of the Center for Applied Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine. With the creation of the CABMM, she realized her idea to create a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary and translational research.

One decade later, Brigitte von Rechenberg decided to step back from her official responsibilities within the CABMM. In line with the 9^th Symposium, the CABMM community celebrated her goodbye. Her successor, Simon P. Hoerstrup, gave a personal farewell speech describing their common path during the last 20 years. Apart from numerous successful scientific collaborations, he also mentioned Brigitte`s loyalty to her team and her efforts in the field of women`s promotion.

We would like to thank Brigitte for all what she did during her time as chairwoman of the CABMM - and already for her support in the future despite her resignation!
